Description

3rd tryout for Ash, again, one of the puppies from ~sewermutt's contest adoptables 8D this time it's a picture that's a scene from the RP that is down below here *points down in the artist description* This one's a tad shorter than the other, and you get a look at Ash when she's alone, trying to reach Di Fonga territory to learn more about her parents and why they abandoned her. This picture, minus the space in between times when i worked on it, took probably about 9 hours? I tried to control the perfectionist in me, so there isn't as much detail as i could've put in here, but oh well xD i like how it turned out, and it gives an example of how i would artistically portray whatever i'm RPing~

also, the yellow eyes don't belong to any particular character... i was listening to this song ---> [link] and it talks about yellow eyes xD love that songgg

now, to the RP! 8D

-------------------------------

The streets were cold. She hadn’t expected that, though she should’ve known. It was night, of course, and the sun was no longer sharing its warmth with the pavement of the streets. Despite her cold paws and the damp chill in the air, Ash decided that it had been a good idea for her to sneak out at night. There weren’t as many humans out on the streets, and while not all of the Di Trieste dogs were asleep, it was easy enough to keep to the shadows and avoid them. They often didn’t know that she was there, anyway. She was quiet and didn’t try to interact with anyone other than her siblings, and even then, not much.

Ash held her breath and stayed perfectly still as a large dog trotted past the shadowy alcove where she was hiding. She was confident that he wouldn’t hear or see her, but smell was another matter. Her ember orange eyes followed him as he moved past, only blinking when he was far enough away for her to sigh in relief and not worry about being heard. She crept cautiously out of her hiding spot and moved quickly for Di Fonga territory. Or what she thought was Di Fonga territory. She wasn’t sure, as it had been a while since she’d been brought to Di Trieste, and she’d been younger. The glow of the streetlights blurred as she hurried past, shadows playing over her slender features. Something wet hit her muzzle, making her pause in her headlong running. She wrinkled her nose.

”Rain, ick,” she grumbled, glancing up at the sky. Where one raindrop was, there were usually about a million more. Sure enough, it was if the sky had opened up and dumped a bathtub full of water on the world. With her ears flat to keep the rain out and her fur slicked to her skin, Ash looked like a drowned rat. She didn’t bother to shake the water from her fur, since the rain didn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. There was something incredibly lonely about the rain. It was as if the sky were crying. Rain always made Ash want to curl in on herself and hide in some place where no one could find her or bother her. The soft pitter patter of the rain didn’t calm her, it just made her more melancholy than she usually was. She really didn’t want to be out in it, but it was too late to turn back now. She continued towards her destination: one of the storm drains that lined the streets, leading down into the sewers.

That idea, perhaps, hadn’t been as well thought out. The streets were quickly flooding, which meant that the storm drains were too. Ash stared down at the water rushing into the metal drain, her posture drooping. She would never be able to find the answers she was looking for now. She had wanted to find out about her parents and why they had abandoned her, as if that would explain everything, but now that hope was literally going down the drain. With a sigh, the five month old capo pup started to turn and trudge back to the hotel, but something in the storm drain caught her eye.

Down in the sewers, something was watching her. Not just something, but another dog. The gleam of its yellow eyes caught her attention and held it, her joints locked in fear, afraid to move or make a sound. When the lips of the dog pulled back to expose gleaming teeth, she thought she would die from fright. A second later, without warning, the dog lunged towards the grate, growl sounding and teeth snapping. With a barely heard yelp, Ash flinched backwards before turning and fleeing, the sound of the Di Fonga dog’s harsh laughter following after her.
